Graven Objects – A Study in Communal Vision and Analog Memory
This project explores experience, wisdom, and vision as they are shared through communal works known as graven objects. These artifacts function both as analog storage and as vehicles for expanding understanding, perception, and the human experience. At the heart of this concept is a community—one made up of individuals who have rejected imposed standards to forge their own paths through chaos, commune, and everything in between.
A pivotal moment occurs when the knowledge they’ve gained is shared outward, materializing as graven objects. This project documents that journey—and the arrival point where collective insight becomes tangible form.
As this communal wisdom stretches through the eternity of time, something more profound begins to happen: the graven objects, once removed from their original context, are reinterpreted. Through this dislocation, they generate new meaning, new visions, and new possibilities. The result is an ever-expanding community—no longer bound by time or systems that seek to contain our most essential human traits: the ability to think freely, feel deeply, imagine widely, and choose our own truths.
